Great Wall of China - China’s Most Famous Place
China is well renowned for its ancient civilization. China is famous for its four inventions in the past; they are paper, gun powder, printing and compass. There were various scholars across China that traveled all over the world to spread the news about China and to get information about various other countries. It is said that China originated way back 2.24 million years ago. There were various dynasties which ruled China for very long time. China has some of the most beautiful places in the world. It has one of the wonders of the world. It is The Great Wall of China.
The Great Wall was built with stone, wood and grass. It was during the Ming Dynasty bricks were used a lot and was used to set up the Great Wall. People used to carry bricks on the back and at times donkeys and goats were used to carry bricks. The Great Wall of China was built for about 2000 years. It was originally started in 7th century BC and the work continued till 14th to 17th century. Many dynasties changed and took over the construction of the Great Wall. The main reason to construct Great Wall was to protect agriculture and to act as a barrier between. The Great Wall of China was listed as one of the Wonders of the World by UNESCO in 1987. The Great Wall of China stretches up to 6700 kilometers that is approximately 4100 miles. Great Wall stretches from East and goes till West of China.
Great Wall was built during spring and autumn seasons. It was started as a single wall and it was in Qin Dynasty that these separate walls were combined as Great Wall stretching across China. Qin Shihuang is responsible to join the wall. Great Wall starts from Shanhaiguan pass in the east stretching to Jiayuguan pass to the west. Simatai is a place located at the north-east of Beijing and holds the natural state of Great Wall. Most of this part remains same in original state and attracts lot of tourists because of the natural scenes across it. The Great Wall of China, in Chinese is called as Wan-Li-Qang-Qeng. It is one of most beautiful and largest man made building project. There were watch towers and even cannon added in Great Wall as a protective measure. It is said that Great Wall can be viewed from Earth atmosphere. Studies say almost two to three million people died in those 2000 years, which took to construct the Great Wall. Great Wall defended Shun Dynasty from Manchu Invasions. But then later in 1644 Manchus finally entered through the gates of Shanhaiguan which was opened by one of the dislikes of Shun Dynasty.
Great Wall was built from stones in mountain and most of the stones were huge and transportation was a big problem. The best time to visit Great Wall of China is summer and autumn. The wall and the mountains are covered by snow in winter. Early morning or late afternoon is the best time to visit Great Wall. Some of the best spots on Great Wall are Badaling Wall, Huanghuacheng Wall, Huangyaguan Taipingzhai Wall, Jayuguan Pass, Jiankou Wall which is also called Arrow Lock, Jinshanling Wall, Mutianyu Wall, Shanhaiguan Wall, Simatai Wall and Weeping Wall.
